Officer Reports
· President
o University of Illinois Alumni Association emailed GSLIS students
with the offer of a free membership while still a student.
Taking part in the organization provides many great opportunities
for students including networking and a searchable database of alumni.
o Some current GSLIS students have requested to be added to the Library Listserv.
There is still some discussion and we'll let you know if students will be added.
o For committee chairs: when planning events, stay in touch with your liaison
to the board since the board has the dates for all events. Conflicts
can be avoided with communication between the board and the committees.
Perhaps we will set up an online calendar in order to better organize and
plan future events.
· Treasurer's Report
o Current RSO balanace $1503.62
o Additional GSLIS moneys $500
o Theoretical $2003.62 that needs spending
How to spend our money:
o Committees let liasons know if anticipated costs are over $20
o Board okays the spending (rarely does it not okay spending)
o Spend your own money, get itemized receipt
o Get receipt and address to treasurer - can use my mail folder,
o but send me an email - blooker@uiuc.edu
o 2 weeks or so later, you'll get a reimbursement check in the mail
Example:
o You're driving yourself and 3 students to Baker and Taylor 10/25/04.
It's a 182 mile round trip and your car gets 20miles/gallon. The estimated
cost, at $2.00/gallon, is $18.20.You tell your liason and he/she says "okay."
You fill up the tank before you leave for B&T, then again when you get back.
The second receipt reflects the amount of money needed for gas, which may
differ from the estimate, but not significantly. The receipt shows number
of gallons purchased or cost per gallon and total cost. I get the receipt
and your address, and in a couple weeks, you get a check.
o I would like to talk to the T-shirt liason and chair at the end of the meeting.
